During the Glenn County Active Shooter Exercise and Redundant Communications Drill on 16 February 2019, Glenn ARES was asked to demonstrate local VHF simplex and repeater voice communications from different locations within Glenn county.
For the second part of this demonstration we were asked to use the Winlink System from different locations in Glenn County to pass message traffic, by VHF radio, to email accounts and cell phones, belonging to Glenn County OES staff.
This demonstration was a success; allowing Glenn ARES to show and prove that we can be used as back-up communications should other means of communications fail in Glenn County. |
